I am the vine, you are the branches. In me you will bear much fruit, but you can do nothing apart from me. John 15:5

4.22.12 Sermon

Today we studied the Three Supernatural Marks of a Living Church.

We began comparing the pictures of the Towel of Babel, in Genesis 11, and the vine, in John 15 to compare that we cannot simply create a church pleasing to God by getting the methods right. In looking closely at Acts 2:42-47 we noted the devotion to: the apostles teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayers.

Looking closely, we note that God provides this first church with: a fear of God, intimacy of believers, and consistency to the call of Christ that cannot be manufactured or manipulated. It comes from God. And it makes the church something far deeper and richer than what we could simply create on our own.

May we cry out to God for the things only He can give.
